Driving on Grosse Ile

The maximum speed limit allowed for driving is 35 mph, and only on main roads.
Most secondary roads will be limited to 30 mph or lower.
Signs are posted for your convenience at regular intervals. Be Alert!

Grosse Ile is an Active Community.

It’s likely you will see our residents walking, jogging, or cycling along the roads, bikepaths and sidewalks.
Please come to a complete stop when required and extend the right-of-way.

The Deer…

Grosse Ile is a "natural" Community.We have a sizeable deer population – and they do NOT pay attention to traffic laws!

Please be aware and "on the lookout" for them at all times, especially when driving by wooded areas!

Food Good! Litter Bad!

We have a wonderful selection of restaurants and small taverns on G.I. – many along Macomb Street in the Central Business District – and we don’t want anyone to leave hungry, BUT…Please - Do Not Litter!One of the quickest ways to meet our G.I. Police force is to litter.
