Sailed into Pirates' Cove
300+ Pirates Gathered for Fun and Good Deeds
July 31, 2010 - Chateau Elba
Yes, pirates really were everywhere as more than a few bands of fun-seeking rascals landed at Chateau Elba, Grosse Ile, Saturday night, July 31st.
Chateau Elba overflowed with joy and excitement throughout the evening. The food was outstanding and the entertainment totally awesome… the Bawdy Boys, Santori the Clown… just to name a few. Intriguingly, the Theatre Bizarre dancers were mesmerizing as darkness encompassed them and heightened their personalized lightshows on the beautiful Chateau Elba grounds. All of the Pirates were captivated by the dancers' pulsating energy, beauty, skills and the oustanding musical accompaniment.
If you missed Sail into Pirates' Cove, we wish you had been there because it wasn't just the great performances that were awe inspiring. It was the Pirates themselves, a mix of our diverse people and cultures… all ages, backgrounds and walks of life… having great fun together. Next time, you must come to witness the sheer creative energy that overflowed the evening, highlighting our most valuable asset, an ability to be creative — to spark, imagine and share new ideas and new experiences. What an amazing place our Island is.
Toward the end of the evening — after sharing a good deal of grub and grog — I might add, we spied bright flashes and heard great booms coming over the water toward us. Once recovered, from under the tables we crawled, to behold that renowned pyrotechnic genius, Dr. Morris himself, leading a squad of boom-makers in a unique show of fireworks — previously unknown to landlubbers.
All proceeds go to support the Island's Welcome Home! Center… no doubt to entice a few more pirate recruits to live amongst us and enjoy the splendid life.
You won't want to miss this event next year. So, mark your calendar for Sail into Pirates' Cove II, July 30, 2011. In the meantime, enjoy the next best thing...
